LESLIE MORGAN
soprano

Cinnabar Recordings:
The Mirecourt Trio Commissions

Soprano Leslie Morgan is internationally acclaimed for her performances of major operatic roles by Verdi, Puccini, and Wagner. She sings in opera houses across the United States, including the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, Opera Pacific in Costa Mesa, the Arizona Opera, Central City in Colorado, and the Cleveland Opera, among others. Of her Sieglinde, Opern Welt writes, “excellently sung, passionate Sieglinde”; and Opera News writes, “vocally ravishing!” Invariably she is highly praised for her many portrayals of Tosca, Turandot, and Leonore (Fidelio): “passionate performance...electrified the stage.” (Cleveland), “electrifying... simply breathtaking.” (Arizona).

Ms. Morgan is much in demand for concerts with orchestra, especially for her spectacular singing of the Verdi Requiem and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. She has sung with orchestras in Europe and throughout the United States, including the Janácek Philharmonic in the Czech Republic. She has sung Brünnhilde in the third act of Die Walküre in concert opposite Simon Estes’s Wotan with both the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra and orchestra and chorus of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Philharmonic in the Canary Islands. In addition to her concert and oratorio work with orchestras, Ms. Morgan frequently sings concert and semi-staged versions of her signature opera roles with symphony orchestras.

Ms. Morgan is a winner of prestigious competitions including the Salzburg Singer of the Year Competition, and the Metropolitan Opera Auditions (Regional finalist). A versaltile singer, she has premiered works by contemporary composers such as Paul Creston, James Drew, Seymour Barab, and David Ashley White, many having been written especially for her.
