The Band Program at CSUN is one of the most progressive in the United States, as can be seen in the fact that it is the only band in the west to have hosted a national wind ensemble conference or to have produced a concert band TV series (“The History of the Wind Band”). In the field of literature also, the CSUN University Band has been a leader with many world premieres of contemporary compositions and has even given the world premiere of original band compositions by Holst, Sibelius, and Saint-Saëns. Each year the band hosts guest artists, among whom have been guest conductors and instrumentalists of international reputation.
